ImagesOfTheJourney > At The Edge Of Wonder

The sunset of the day
lengthens the shadows of
our knowing
I turn and seek your warmth
and the reassurance
of another morning
But you know, as I
that the promise of
tomorrow is found
not in any certainty of waking
but in the cycle of earth
and the nuclear hearth
that warms us
So we sleep in hope
and are grateful for each
new dawning
ImagesOfTheJourney > MORNING MIST

In the morning of our day
a mist shrouds our sight

In the heat of day
often in seeing too far
find we can not bear
the knowing or being known

In the dusk of our day
we consume the long looking back
and yearn for the mist of the morning
to ease our pain

In the night of our day
we wonder at the stars
ImagesOfTheJourney > ILLUSIONS OF EXISTENCE

We sail on the waves
of a particle sea,
mathematical shadows.

Here thing and nothing,
lose their contradiction
and dance a Heisenberg waltz,
the uncertainty of all we know as certain
masked.

Atoms
each a tree falling in the forest of matter
non reality
surges of probability, endlessly rolling
not yet knowing their time and space

until
sentient glance reveals
something resembling
the illusions of our existence.
ImagesOfTheJourney > Canadian Vimy Memorial

Reconciliation - I thought of the memorials found in every French village, not for those fallen in this war
but those who were "Mort pour la France" in the First World War. That and the Treaty of Versailles
whose terms both humiliated and bankrupted the fledgling democracy of the German Wiemar republic thus paving the way for National Socialism, Hitler and World War II.

I remembered my feelings earlier in this trip, as I had stood between the white limestone spires of the Vimy Ridge Memorial, honouring the sixty-six thousand Canadians who perished in the First World War...

The memorial, reputed to be the most beautiful in all of France, rises from the crest Hill 145, the highest point of the Ridge.

ImagesOfTheJourney > Daybreak
This is sunrise at the Mussellman's bed and breakfast (now sadly closed) justs outside of the city of Hunstville and not far from Algonquin Prinvincial Park. Algonquin is the crown jewel in Ontario's Park system.
ImagesOfTheJourney > The Angel Appears
Look closely
ImagesOfTheJourney > The Loon is the quintessential bird of Canada's near north. It has a haunting cry that is most often heard echoing over the water of the tens of thousands of lakes that nestle in the smooth rocky curves of the Precambrian shield that makes up the majority of Ontario Canada.
